Audi vs BMW vs Mercedes - Which is the best German marque?

OK let's settle this: which of the big German marques has the best line-up?

I like Audi styling and I love the RS6 Avant but they get docked points for not having a Formula 1 team (and their silly antics in the DTM last year).

I appreciate BMW's vehicle dynamics and think the things they are doing with efficiency are very impressive. But where's the supercar in their range?

Mercedes have some excellent cars in their line-up: C63 AMG, E Class, SLR McLaren - but I find the styling a bit drab on the whole.

Mercedes is. The other two are catching up, but Mercedes had all that backing in 30s and 40s that they had a massive headstart creating some serious luxury and developing technology.

BMW may have the M badge and Audi may have the RS line, but when Mercedes bring out an AMG Black Series such as the ridiculously powerful SL they wash the other two aside.

Just a shame that while they make a £300,000+ hypercar they also make a £14k supermini.

BMW always. The Munich giant is amazing on the road. Others match it and probably surpass it in imagination but in reality BMW excel. They give you a car for what a car is all about - driving dynamics. BM performs miracles with straight 6. No car matches BM pound for pound.

M3 N M5 have been on top of the game for nearly 23yrs, and still on top of their segments. No other car has shaken them. Countless accolades and awards. No point having a 300,000k car if you really mean business. How many buy them?
Everyone agrees

If you consider the overall range of cars it has to be BMW.

Mercedes make good mid range and top range exec cars, but their small cars and MPV attempts are hideous.

All audi's look the same - lazy designers just scale up smaller models to make the bigger ones.

I'm no big fan of new BMW's (despite my ID which relates to the E30 M3 Sport Evo which is the best car BMW have ever made), but think overall they are out front, although they are not as prestigious as they one were due to numbers being sold (too common). If you want to be a bit individual, you steer clear of BM's......

Which one is best? In my opinion none of them. Bmw have some very good, low emission / consumption Diesel Engines and that's the closest to being environmentally friendly any of these three get. I acknowledge Bmw did have the hydrogen 7 series... but yeah who's seen one in a showroom? In my opinion the mercedes and Bmw have very sub standard cabin interiors compared to the Audi, however the audi's interior is sub standard when placed against that of a lexus. Obviously the Bmw, Mercedes and Audi all have great performance in their top model line ups, but at an entry level, Audi and Mercedes offer you very little for your money. As much as a lexus might not have the sheer dynamics, i think it offers better value, reliability/durability (you won't get a volkwagen powered audi with 500,000kms on the clock),better interior, they were quick to develop a great hybrid range and they come from a parent company that consitantly makes money. Most likely due to the factors just mentioned.

I love them 3. But I think the Bmw cars are a bit too complicated. Mercedes cars are too expensive and the Audi cars have one thing in common. They all look the same.
