The first ever Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport convertible has fetched £1.8m at auction.
The 250mph Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, which does not officially go on sale until next year, fetched the amount at the Pebble Beach Concourse event in California.
Buyers fought to get the first ever Veyron Grand Sport – which is guaranteed to be a car collector's dream – and the lucky bidder paid £1.8m for the fastest convertible in the world - £600,000 more than the book price.
This huge sum will be donated to charity by Bugatti.
While Bugatti has sold a few special edition models, the Grand Sport is the first to have engineering adjustments.
This is to cope with the car's stability with the roof removed at speeds of up to 225mph.
With the roof in place the convertible Veyron will hit 250mph - 3mph less than the standard Veyron.
The removable glass roof can't be stored within the Veyron so the owner will have to leave it at home in a securely locked up area.
And if they can afford to splash out £1.8 million on a car it's likely they won't be short of security.
